There’s a tiny bit of Europe that simply should be on your radar this summer. On your way back from the World Cup or on its own. We’re talking about Estonia and Latvia, even Lithuania.
Estonia, they say, is waiting to be discovered. So, no huge crowds, just an authentic, relaxing experience. It’s easy to get to and small enough to cover in a few days. For foodies (aren’t we all?), Estonia is paradise. The restaurants are Michelin star level but without a matching price tag. Tallinn, the capital, is the best preserved medieval city in Northern Europe which means a wealth of architecture with legends and stories to explore. The country is almost 50% forest so imagine the adventures that await you!
Next door Latvia continues the goodness. With lush pine forests and quaint towns. Art nouveau architecture and beautiful beaches. Ancient castles and pristine wilderness. Latvia is home to Europe’s widest waterfall and Rundāle Palace looks like it’s straight out of a fairytale. For art lovers, the Mark Rothko Art Centre in Daugavpils celebrates the town’s best known artist.
